"my one true joy of that trip was completing skeds with
vk6hd and
vk6vz over the south pole. this was their zone 11 for waz
and they
both really needed it. in order to keep the sked, we had
to ask the
local island tv station to reduce power from 100w (their
amp had a
spur on 160m when listening on the south beverage) to 5w
during the
sked periods - and we managed to make the sked
successfully. that's
the first time i have ever had to ask a tv station to qrx
so i might
make a qso! both mike and steve were delighted to get
their zone 11.
i was pretty psyched about it myself as this was a direct
over the
pole shot." jeff says at py0f the conditions were great
