Modern digital modes require high stability oscillators,
especially at higher frequencies or when using the KX3 to control a UHF transverter.
I wonder if the following could be explored in a "KX4":
1) Complementary designs for Elecraft compatible UHF and microwave transverters (either made by Elecraft or made for Elecraft by a microwave group.
2) Change to a Si5351a oscillator with external crystal and TXCO or OXCO.
3) Autocalibration to a known stable source (such as GPS). Hans Summers has this implemented in his QRSS transmitters (I do not know how the time frame for correction compares to the higher stability of a TXCO or OXCO , anyone work in this area)?
4) Introduce a small device, PX3 size, that could handle Keplerian calculations to run a Alt-Az antenna for satellites or EME.
-Just some wild thoughts of where to take the best receiver on the market.
