this is joseph jiang, bd4ep. some friends and i have bought several ft-450 hf transceivers in the past 2 years. but recently we have found same problem on our ft-450 stations:
1. reset/clone/firmware version check functions are not working. no matter how we try it by following the instructions mentioned in the operation manual, it just not working.
2. the cat port suddenly stopped working. some of ft-450's cat ports were able to communicate with the computer application (pcc-450) without any problem, but recently it was not working any more. some stations can use the pcc-450 to change the vfo frequency(tuning by turn the wheel on pcc-450), but the frequency shows on the pc screen does not change together (ft-450's frequency were changing, feel so weird). we have checked our pc com port again and again, and we are sure that the com port is working fine.
we suspect the problems are with ft-450 firmware, but the upgrade software can't be used since the cat port is not working, and for ft-450 with the 0194 firmware also can't be reprogrammed since the firmware version in ft-450 is already the latest one (some ft-450 cat port is still alive...)
we need some official support from yaesu, as it seems that the problem is not only with specific device, it's a common issue for ft-450 owners.
