good but not great   time owned: 0 to 3 months

this review is from a cw stand point only. the 590 is a good radio but it is not in the same class as my k3 or a flex 5000. there is some blow-by with filters and why did kenwood preset the filters? its a great rag chewing rig but its not a contest radio or a get down in the mud to get that new one on 160 meters rig as compared to what i have now. and one more thing why didn't they have and extra slot for another roofing filter? i still have my ts 520se, i like kenwood and have owned them all and mean all (520-950sdx) it's a good radio.

how you feel about ts-590 might varies what you expect it.

i have played with ts-590 for some weeks. compared with ts-950sdx,870,850 which i had before, ts-590 works well but i still can't find a big difference from them. ts-590 is just one of good trxs in this price range(almost lowest range of hfs). if you are looking for the best trx in the world, i strongly recommend you to purchase high-end models(so-called flagship model) which have more high-quality and reliable parts, better electrical circuits. but if you want to have a good trx at a reasonable price, ts-590 can be one of the best choices. i didn't expect too much before i bought it because it seemed to be so cheap. but ts-590 is now entertaining me with its supreme performance. good job, kenwood.

有空用了半天，用不同带宽听cw，明显50hz的带宽还是可用的。以前icom的也能调到50hz带宽，可是无论soft还是sharp都是会有cw的上下沿和噪声滤波收窄后会糊在一起，感觉icom的dsp50hz带宽算法是显示他们的dsp能力而已，标榜的作用大于实际应用。

可是k的ts590真的还是不错，听起来点划还是很清晰的。

现代的icom机器类似瑞士军刀，什么功能都有，放大镜，尺，螺丝刀镊子。。。。当然它还是一把刀。7700，7600就如同花哨的瑞士军刀。

噢，呵呵，也许4万多是有点贵了，不比较这个7700了。

仔细没在ts590维修手册找到调维修菜单的那个短路头，倒是找了一下ts570手册上有，发到这里。

看上去性价比还是可以的，决定性能比较没有意义。

今天用了一下这机器，很不错，机器不热，很稳定，声音（听广播）有蓬蓬声。

这收音机看来不错，攒够钱就进一台来听"中国之声"用……。

老干部您那边是哪里进的货？价格大约多少？

不热？请你不是来煲机的吗？

自己手头有trc-80、ts-50、ts-450、v71、f6a、308、208等几乎一色的建武，听老干部介绍了这么多，心里实在痒痒，何时入手一台590，犹豫中......

上面有ham估计很准的，这机大概一万四一台，没有购买的价值，或者说对比性能相近的机子，没有明显的竞争力。

来看看类似k3的单接收配置如同590差不多的功能

以上的elecraft的k3价钱还是散件，并非预装好的，回来慢慢收拾起码1周。

总价不算了，肯定比ts590的1800美元贵很多了。至于性能590应该在k3和ftdx5000之下，但是比一般的ft950,ic7000甚至ic746p应该强，声音好还算是卖点。功能上肯定不如7600和756p3（起码没有同波段双接收，也没有利用双接收的频谱），但是比较7600和756p3的接收来讲，590表现会更好一些。

先忍着,实在忍不了就买

突然发现bh7ni几种机器都有的480，7000和857

i gave the ts590 to myself as a christmas gift. since i'm quite accustomed to the operation of ts570d, it didn't take me long to get my hands on ts590 even without manual.

pros:

all necessary functions can be accessed through hard buttons or as the 2nd function of these buttons.

also, it's quite convenient to operate the radio from remote network access. i tried to control the radio by remote access


through a vpn software (hamachi2) and it worked well. the vpn access eliminates the problems caused by routers.


simple remote login management is also available and some important trx menus can't be accessed through remote control thus key parameters won't be altered.

i'm also very glad to say that sound for medium speed cw under 50hz bw is still clear, not fuzzy at all. filters for ssb and cw are handy to use, though there aren't many options (soft or sharp roll-off) available.

cw tuning feature is still one of the key features that persuaded me to choose kenwood radios.

the voice-recording assembly is still on the way, thus no further tests on it's performances and sound quality have been carried out.

i won't spend money on features that are not related to reception performance (spectrum analyzing, rtty and psk encoding and decoding, etc.). that means i need a professional screw driver rather than a swiss knife. there's no doubt that ts590 is one of the ideal choices available on the market these days.

cons:
1. hope to have seperate tx-disable control for different bands to avoid misuse

2. buttons are not well distinguished from each other and operator needs to read the label before being able to know the function. ts570 is better designed with respect to this point.

3.found that some can not be turned off background noise.
