This latest version of the Juma PA-100D linear amplifier firmware, version 1.05j Build 3, considerably optimises certain internal functions, and adds a new feature to the Serial Test Suite.
The internal optimisation involved the set_relay() function, and for full details, please see the comments in the source files.
The added feature in the Serial Test Suite is the 'G' command. This will now display the various amateur band input attenuator settings. Previously you would have had to manually step through the bands and make a note of the display readings.
Although not a new feature, the ammeter display has been completely revised. I have experimented with a number of differing display modes for the digital ammeter in order to obtain the most stable and useful display. As a result of these experiments, involving averaging meters, running average, etc, I finally 'borrowed' the technique I used for the digital S-meter of the Juma TRX-2. I feel that the present version is the most useful. It is now a peak reading, long hold time meter. The hold time is about 850mS, and allows for an accurate assessment of the currents being drawn even in the SSB mode, which previously posed problems as the reading would change far too frequently. In the CW mode, you now have a quite stable display whilst keying. Note that in the System Calibration mode the meter is an instantaneous reading meter, the peak hold feature is disabled so that calibration adjustments are immediately evident without having to wait for the hold timer to expire. Also, the graphic ammeter display is still an instantaneous display.
The EEPROM mapping has not changed, so this version can be safely loaded over a previous 1.05x version, but, as always, whenever updating firmware, it is advisable to make a note of your existing calibration and configuration settings. This is easily accomplished with the 'D' command of the Serial Test Suite.
