i've been meaning to get into this for some time. the idea is to use
filtered dc directly from the mains for the fet, then get isolation
from an rf transformer the size of a postage stamp. it would sure beat
the 20 lb astron supply...
for you reference, a friend as seen a buz11 oscillate at 14 mhz if the
gate is disconnected. some of the irf power fets have an ft in excess
of 200 mhz so they'd make dandy hf finals.
the biggest drawback is a high gate capacity, but it could be
neutralized.
