this anritsu rg52a communications receiver is a highly sought after top-of-the-line solid-state double conversion superheterodyne shortwave radio. it is listed in fred osterman’s shortwave receivers past and present/communications receivers 1942-1997 as “typically unavailable”, which is his highest rating for rarity. these are professional grade commercial-maritime receivers. they were made from 1979 to 1994. this one was manufactured in january 1984. it covers 100 khz to 35 mhz. it receives am, cw, mcw, lsb and usb. it has 6, 3, and .5 khz filters for excellent selectivity. it has a separate vfo and clarifier. it has a digital frequency readout using bright red led’s. this unit operates off 100/110 or 200/220 vac, 50/60 hz or 24 vdc.
this receiver is in outstanding condition. if it were not for a couple of very small dings in the aluminum strip on the top of the front panel, i would list it as mint. it still has the factory "type approval" stickers on the front panel. it is in outstanding/excellent condition both cosmetically and operationally. the audio is superb. it will operate into a 3.2 to 8 ohm or 600 ohm speakers. it is extremely stable and very sensitive. it is the best shortwave receiver that i have ever operated, and it pains me to sell it.
the anritsu corporation of tokyo japan is a worldwide supplier of communications and electronic equipment. they manufacture the highest quality test equipment, data processing and industrial automation equipment as well as marine radars and hf receivers and transmitters and more. all of their equipment is expensive. this receiver sold for almost $6,000 new. if you have been looking for one of these difficult to find receivers, don’t pass this one up. you will not be disappointed.
