the national institute of amateur radio (niar) hyderabad, india is organizing “hamfest vu4 india 2006” at port blair, andaman & nicobar island, india on april 18-20, 2006.the govt. of india has permitted foreign and indian radio amateurs to operate from there on this occasion using the callsign vu4an followed by the individual indian callsign. several well known dx and indian amateurs are scheduled to operate from this rare dxcc country.
to celebrate this event, niar is pleased to announce the “hamfest (vu4) india 2006 awards” to encourage individual stations of all types worldwide to make contact with as many vu4an stations (callsigns) as possible from 18:30 utc of april 17, 2006 to 18:30 utc of april 25, 2006 in any band / mode.
the different types of awards offered are as follows:
hamfest (vu4) india 2006 award: this basic award will be issued to any station who makes contact with at least four different vu4an/vu.... stations (callsigns).
hamfest (vu4) india 2006 : continent award (low power): this award will be issued to 3 stations from each continent (viz. from asia, africa, europe, n.america, s.america & oceania) who makes contact with the maximum no. of vu4an/vu.... stations (callsigns) with 100 watts power or less.
hamfest (vu4) india 2006 : continent award (high power): this award will be issued to 3 stations from each continent (viz. from asia, africa, europe, n.america, s.america & oceania) who makes contact with the maximum no. of vu4an/vu... stations (callsigns) with more than 100 watts power.
hamfest (vu4) india 2006 : country award (low power): this award will be issued to those 3 stations from each country who makes contact with the maximum no. of vu4an/vu... stations (callsigns) with 100 watts power or less.
hamfest (vu4) india 2006 : country award (high power): this award will be issued to those 3 stations from each country who makes contact with the maximum no. of vu4an/vu.... stations (callsigns) with more than100 watts power.
hamfest (vu4) india 2006 : champion: this award will be issued to the station who makes contact with the maximum no. of vu4an/vu... stations (callsigns) from any where in the world (except vu4).
hamfest (vu4) india 2006 : swl award: certificates will be awarded to the 3 swl stations worldwide who log the maximum number of vu4an/vu.... stations (callsigns)
applications should be sent by post with the following details:
award section name, name of operator, callsign, e-mail and postal address together with log extract of contacts viz. vu4an station’s individual callsign, date, time (utc), band, mode, rst and details of power, rig and antenna used. the log will be cross verified with the individual vu4an operator.
claims for the same number of contacts: in cases where several stations claim the same number of contacts, the station(s) making the contacts in the shortest time from the start of the dxpedition will be the winner.
deadline: august 15, 2006
the awards will be judged by a committee appointed by niar and the names of winners will be announced on august 20, 2006 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the late prime minister of india, mr. rajiv gandhi, vu2rg.
charges: 2 ircs or equivalent for the basic award. there is no fee for other awards.
