hello all the fellow hams.
it took me a lot of time and major effort from myself as well as from my secretary to get logged into this forum... however, here i am ;)
ok, let me tell you a bit who am i and what do i do here.
my name is ville, i'm 36 years old, a finnish national nowadays residing in shanghai, puxi, licensed in finland as oh1jd some 20 years ago. as you may already quess, i do not write chinese, nor read it and also my spoken skills are also in a level of 1 year old kid. regardless of that, i have enjoyed living in shanghai for almost a year now, working as a chief representative for a finnish technology company whose office i established here last year.
having been busy with business and also travelling abroad quite frequently, i have not been able to exercise my dear hobby for a long time (except this summer, when i was back in finland, where i still have a small farm (antenna farm)). now, the flame is on to get in the air and operate from shanghai.
i have been trying to search suitable contacts and amateur radio club stations here in shanghai to operate casually every now and then, but i am also interested in opportunities to work in major contests as during my decades with ham radio, most of my time has been spent in contest and dx-activities. i'm quite good in dealing with antennas, especially when they are in high towers or are big otherwise. when i decided to move to shanghai, i took down my contest station which included monoband yagis for 10-40m bands (on a 42 m tower) as well as all the verticals that i had in lowbands. station itself is still there with a few radios, big amplifiers and all that stuff.
now, i would like to ask anyones help to get connected with local shanghai hams and to search for possibilities for operating here. (i already have my visitors license issued by crsa, valid until april 2005),
