今早收到ae5pl在ml里的邮件:
大意是说一个igate应该只向rf转发目的地为它听到的本地台站的消息。
连报告坐标在igate附近区域内但是未被igate直接听到的目的台站的消息都不应该转发。
why do you think they should be gated to rf? the default setting of an igate only gates to rf messages destined for "local" stations only seen on rf (and associated posits). it does not (and javaprsigate never will) support gating to rf stations seen on aprs-is that are within a specified area. one of the big factors in this decision is the fact that it is impossible to fully know whether a station has a direct path to rf due to dupe checking and the inherent lack of reliability on rf. also, you would be relinquishing control of your station to people on the internet and be dependent on their configurations, not yours.
there has been significant discussion of this on the aprs sig with the net result of "gee it would be nice but..." and the "buts" overrode all potential positives.
