contest rules
=============
the rules were changed according to experience from the 1st year of the
contest. the changes were applied to the contest date, time, stage
lengths, operators' categories. a new rule was added concerning the
station site.
date:
the fourth saturday in april, (24/4/2010, 23/4/2011, 28/4/2012, and
and so on) in two stages (1,5 hour each):
1st stage: from 04:00 to 05:29 utc
2nd stage: from 05:30 to 06:59 utc
bands:
1.8 mhz, 3.5 mhz and 7 mhz
on 80 and 40m use the following segments:
cw 3520-3560 and 7010-7035 and?100-7200 khz, ssb 3700-3770
and 7080-7200 khz.
modes:
cw, ssb, mixed (cw+ssb)
operator: single op
band: single band (one of the 160, 80, or 40m)
all bands (all bands 160, 80, and 40m)
power: high (over 100w), low (up to 100 w), qrp (up to 5 w)
dx cluster:
usage of the dx cluster is allowed in all categories. no band change rule is
applied.
exchange:
rs(t) + serial number beginning with 001, numbering of the contacts can run
separately in each stage or continuously in both stages as appropriate to the
operator (rather according to used log software).
multipliers:
the last letter of the suffix of the worked station call sign (e.g. ok1ne
gives e or ok5e/m gives also e). the multipliers count for each band, stage
and mode separately.
points:
one point per contact.
the points count for each band, stage and mode separately. the same station
can be worked at each stage on each band once cw and once ssb.
score:
the sum of points from both stages multiplied with the sum of multipliers from
both stages.
swl:
the swl's count each station once per band, stage and mode. each properly
recorded contact (date, utc, band, calls of both stations, sent exchange)
counts one point. the last letter of the station listened is used as
a multiplier (see above). the points and multipliers as well as the final
score countin a similar way as for transmitting stations.
site:
all the transmitting and receiving equipments (including antennas) shall be
located inside one circular site of radius of 5km. a remote control console
and necessary data circuits are excluded from this rule.
contest reports
a contest participant wishing to entry the contest shall send his contest
report within a period of 14 days after the contest ending. the preferred
way to send this report is to input it into an interactive form on the web
http://www.hamradio.cz/ok1wc/ . it can also be sent by e-mail or posted to
the contest organizer address (see below). by sending the contest report the
participant declares that he agrees with these contest rules and that during
his contest operation he observed these contest rules, his country rules for
ham radio operation and the hamspirit. he also declares that in case of any
dispute he will recognize the decision of the contest organizer.
the contest report shall include:
- date (year) of the contest
- call sign used
- participant's e-mail or telephone for possible clearing of small errors
- post address.
without this, it is not possible to send an award possibly issued
to him/her.
- contest category (single; cw/ssb/mixed; high/low/qrp/swl).
if not shown, the contest organizer will set mixed; high (probably
no such problem can appear with a swl).
- points per stage and sum of points.
- multipliers per stage and sum of multipliers.
- score (sum of points multiplied by sum of multipliers)
- the contest report can include a short note (up to 50 characters) -
a brief information on used equipment and/or operator [yl, junior,
senior (age)]. a soapbox can be added to the report (up to 2000 characters)
which can include any comment.
the station which includes its e-mail address will receive confirming
information to this address when the report is included in contest database.
when the interactive form is used, this information is sent automatically and
immediately when the report is entered.
logs:
each contest participant can show his log on the
http://www.hamradio.cz/ok1wc/ (link logs - upload). the logs will be shown only after the reception of the
contest reports was closed. logs are accepted in plain text format (*.txt) or
in *.pdf format, no longer than 50 kb. cabrillo structure is highly recommended.
contest results:
a list of received reports is published on
http://www.hamradio.cz/ok1wc/ as
they are entered. the results (scores) will be shown only after the reception
of reports is closed. for the period of one month these results are considered
as preliminary. during this period, the contest organizer can accept any
complaint and consider it.
in the period of 14 days after the contest ending, the contest organizer has
a right to ask a station for sending the contest log. this applies especially
to the stations with three highest scores in each category but it can be
applied to any other station as well. electronic logs are preferred in this
case. the logs shall be sent as plain text cabrillo files. the logs can be
uploaded via
http://www.hamradio.cz/ok1wc/ or sent to the contest organizer's
e-mail or even post address. if the requested log is not received by the
contest organizer within 14 days, the participant's entry might be deleted
from the contest evaluation.
the log shall include the standard information (own call, date, utc, band or
frequency, call of the station worked, both sent and received exchange and new
multiplier). the dup contacts shall be marked (not required for the cabrillo
logs). the swl log shall include one磗 own call, date, utc, band or frequency,
calls of both stations, exchange and new multiplier.
the contacts shall be written in the chronological order regardless of
frequency band.
awards:
stations in the first three places in each category will receive an award.
awards will be sent to their post addresses if known.
penalization:
not sending the requested log, finding substantial inconsistencies in the log,
breaking the contest rules, unfair behaviour or inclusion of high number of
incorrigible contacts may be a sufficient reason for deleting the station from
the evaluation.
contest organizer decision is ultimate.
